RBMA~Level 42 (Universal, Isle of Wight, UK) - Fireside Chat


Level 42 started life on the Isle Of Wight, and fast became aninternationally acclaimed band whose pop career grew out of a stellar setof Brit-jazz-funk releases characterized by Mark 'Thunderthumbs' King'sslap-bass technique. Later becoming the lead vocalist, they are best knownfor their combination of bombastic synth chords and melodic catchy hitssuch as 'Lessons in Love', 'Something About You', and 'The Sun Goes Down'.Still their influence extends further than just the pop charts, asout-there funk groovers like 'Starchild' are testament to - influencingdiscotheques of good taste to this day. In this very special Fireside Chatshow, Mark King told us about slap bass, jazz-funk, chart success and howforming a band 29 years ago changed his life.
