Russ Elevado (Los Angeles, USA)
NYC homie Russ Elevado is a recording engineer and record producer, whose work on D'Angelo's critically-acclaimed 'Voodoo' album gained him a Grammyaward in 2000. Following the success of 'Voodoo', he has worked with some of the most influential artists and producers of our times, including Alicia Keys, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Roberta Flack, Al Green, Blackalicious and Common. Russ' work is considered to have a vintage sound, and he remains staunchly faithful to analogue recording techniques and equipment in the modern era of digital recording, and still uses analogue tape as his recording medium. In his couch session, he talks about recording techniques, the importance of the signal path, and how the engineer can easily find himself between the artist, the A&R, and the major record label.
